Fond Philippians Memories

October 27, 2014
The verses below were selected by an impartial team of NeoXenos scholars for the resumption (by high demand) of our Philippians verse memorization contest, the winners of which can expect to be taken out to El Capasino’s by a team of Elders. Winners are simply those who can indeed prove they have memorized these vital and exciting passages from one of Paul’s most powerful letters. It is a contest worth contesting for, since so many of these verses contain the distilled wisdom and power and love of God toward us!
HOWEVER, due to the proliferation of cheats and scumbags in NeoXenos – especially among the older age groups – winners are expected to prove their knowledge not only at CT, but also before entering the El Capasino celebration!
That’s right, we

NeoXenos scumbags often whine about memory loss.
will happily turn bereaved failures away from the El Capasino door the very night the festivities are scheduled, much like the wedding party parable Jesus told, where those were turned away who did not bring enough oil! (A strange story indeed!)
Yet, “Behold, the kindness and severity of God!” Paul exclaims. So there is room for kindness in the hearts of celebration-minded Elders (especially since the awards dinner is scheduled during the holiday season), because it is unnecessary to memorize these verses word-for-word. More important is memorization by significant phrase and chapter number (not verse number). So, for example, from the first verse, below, what is the significant phrase to remember? “I am confident…that He who began a good work in you will perfect/complete it…”
Here again we are trying to accommodate the older age groups, whose failing intellects and dull mental acumen are a matter of common knowledge, by virtue of their own well-rehearsed testimonies (or whines – it is not easy to discern the difference).
